btw, James May said he wasn't actually there when it happened, so I'm not sure he makes a particularly credible source compared to the many eye witnesses to it. The 'handbags and pushing' quote is attributed to Clarkson, not May.

The (unknown) BBC exec wasn't comparing Clarkson to Saville - he was comparing the unquestioning defence of Clarkson to the unquestioning defence of Saville. A completely different thing.
