thanks for that mate, that's pretty much my outlook on it right now

I know I'm going to lose him whether he's dead or not. He's still as sharp and witty as ever, I can see his memory slowly fading, both short term and long term, I have to explain where I'm living (he's convinced it's Cambridge) who I'm living with - every time. I can understand completely that it's kindness to see him go - he has said exactly the same, it must be scary as f**k for him right now though and that hurts more, there's nothing I can do
