Liverpool simply paid the price for a decade of violence by English fans (most of it by supporters of the national team, but Spurs and Man U fans were among those guilty in Euro competition). The only difference is that the Liverpool incident at Heysel (and I believe Liverpool fans had a pretty good record up to that point) ocurred in a decrepit stadium so that people actually died. That incident alone didn't cause the ban, it was a culmination of years of trouble, but it has enabled people like you to make Liverpool the scapegoats for a nation.
