Most of the funniest people I know in real life are women.

On Richard Herrings podcast the women are usually funny in conversation (Sarah Millican and Victoria Coren were both funny although I've never laughed at much they've done that's scripted). As for standups, nearly all the best ones are men. So for me, women ARE funny but men are better at writing/performing in a standup environment.

That said Sharon Horgan and Julia Davies have done some great comedy writing and are good at making me lol my head off.
