Alex Neil changed it at half time, then changed it with 20 to go by removing Redmond.
Ok its bad that the first half was largely wasted, but he's a proactive guy, clearly, who doesn't do a Hughton or Adams and stick resolutely with the starting tactic in the hope it clicks. The way we finished the game, with Wes behind 2 strikers, and Dorrans (who I thought looked a good passer and comfy on the ball but a bit rusty) in front of the back 4 was decent. We didn't need wingers against such a defensive opponent, our lapping fullbacks should have been enough for crossing, with the central midfield diamond making runs and options and largely overloading areas to exploit the fact their centrebacks were tied up with 2 physical strikers.
So it didn't work, its concerning that our supposedly best finisher in Hooper is largely ineffective as he has no pace, physical presence or ability to close down defenders for any length of time. He's a luxury really, and much like Wes his place in the side requires the team to be built up around him. He has to play deeper as he has no pace to stretch a backline, but the temptation for our players to launch it to Jerome as opposed to the feet of Grabban to run onto is also a concern.
In summary, we can improve massively, we need to improve massively, but slipping up in supposed nailed on wins against poor teams happens throughout every league and throughout history, don't come the c**t about it and c**t everyone off because of it.
Stand up, wipe the grit from your eyes, and go get three points from the motherf**king lions den.
