On the Lido once (beach island) a quick 'bus' from St Marks Square.

Afraid I can't remember the name of the other hotel. The first time was there for a day as part of student inter railing.

It honestly doesn't matter a huge amount where you stay though. Everywhere is quickly accessible.

Buildings? Just look up and look around. Look at everything. Doges Palace and St Marks Basilica in the Square and (I've had to look up the name) - the most beautiful church is Santa Maria della Salute imo.

But sometimes the best parts are, as I said, the quiet squares. All of it is amazing.
