I did, a Flex, but it stopped working. Twice.

It was quite effective while it did work though - strangely you do feel more motivated to walk to work (e.g.) because of that little bit of plastic. Here's the article that originally persuaded me to get one: User Posted Link

I would say that it depends on your objectives though. If it's to be more active in general, then do it. If you have a specific training target in mind, I would suggest getting a GPS watch with a bit more targetted functionality. I found that the GPS mapping was not very reliable with the Fitbit, something which is much better with my Garmin watch that I replaced it with. If you do get one I hope you don't have the same technical problems as me.
