Fucking awful? Not at all, their club won something. At least it meant the jokes could

Then stop.

I look at it like this: I think the FA Cup means many different things to many different clubs. It means an absolute s**tload to Tottenham or Newcastle, say, big clubs which can't win the league and are generally locked out of the CL. Same with clubs like Everton, Villa, even someone like West Ham.

But below that particular group of clubs, no-one really cares. Relegation strugglers have to fight against relegation, promotion contenders rest players and worry about fixture congestion. And of the elite clubs? The CL clubs? In the 2009 FA Cup semi-final, Manchester United picked... a reserve side. And comically, even almost got through.

Having won something last season, and with his side 3rd and in the last 16 of this tournament yet again, why is Wenger under pressure? Why are there maybe bigger doubts over his future tonight than at any point in many years? Because the PL and CL are what matters to clubs their size. Anything else is nice - but meaningless.
