For all the popular opposition to Qatar 2022 (which includes me, I hasten to add), I think governments are more preoccupied by what to do with Russia 2018. Unlike Qatar, the tournament in Russia represents a geopolitical issue and I'm sure many Western governments are keeping a boycott in reserve in case the situation in Ukraine continues to worsen (which looks likely). In that context, I guess they're reluctant to announce such drastic action as far as Qatar is concerned given that they could ultimately end up boycotting two consecutive World Cups, which I can't imagine would be much of a vote-winner. Hardly principle-driven politics, I know, but it seems that's how these things work. Anyway, if you have any ideas for demonstrating your opposition, you'd have my support.
The real question for me is how the s**tting f**k FIFA contrived to award this amazing, uplifting tournament to two such abysmally inhumane regimes.
