Probably WW2

SUNDERLAND have launched an investigation into how fans got hold of an embarrassing scouting report on close-season signing Andy Gray.

Black Cats coach Kevin Richardson delivered a brutal analysis of ex-Blade Gray's performance when he assessed the Sheffield United players in a game against Wigan last term.

Richardson wrote: "He didn't do a thing. Never closed defenders down, had a poor first touch, won one header and had no efforts on goal."

The comments, which have appeared on a Sunderland fans' website, were read by manager Mick McCarthy.

He apparently ignored Richardson's verdict and having previously tried to sign the striker, went on to pay ?1.1million for him seven months later.

Richardson is now coaching Gray, 28, who has started 11 games and scored just once during bottom-of-the-table Sunderland's dismal start to the Premiership season.
