What happened was - a few words were said to try and rile up my mates - 2 brothers, their father and 2 other friends. They really gave some s**t to one of the brothers who was very young and eventually (like an idiot) threw a punch at one of them.

They laid in, beating the s**t out of him. The others went to try to pull the guys away but also got a bit of a beating. Their dad tried to pull his son away and they attacked him. The first punch knocked him to the ground and then they put the boot in.

They then dragged the father down to Magdalen St. and kicked his head against railings until it was the size of a pumpkin. He was found shortly after, already dead.

They got away with prison sentences because Robert threw the first punch and (get this) they couldn't prove that the Marines' first punch didn't kill Brian (and that punch was deemed self-defence). Brian was 6'6", 22 stone and a former Para (which was how the arguments started).
