pared with other more commonplace modes of transport, I think it's not unreasonable to be less than sangfroid when screaming through the air at FIVE HUNDRED MILES AN HOUR, six miles up, in a narrow cylinder of plastic and aluminium, kept up by thin wings packed to the gunnels with highly combustible fuel. I think it's evolutionarily acceptable to be not comfortable. That's a rational emotional response. And they beat, hands down, any cool rational risk analysis.
I'm a very comfy flier. On a scale of one (basically asleep) to ten (abject furniture gnawing terror) I'm a clear 1. Possibly a 2 or 3 in bad turbulence. But Mrs B is a 6/7 even on the shortest, calmest, easiest flight.
