bit is that the papers released have shown PM Thatcher suppressing the story. For any Prime Minister that would be a major scandal.

Admit the OP's subject line was probably unwarranted but ffs look past that and think how many people's lifes were affected or possible affected by this "hushing."
And maybe not turn this into a "but look what the other side did" political argument.

It is ridiculous to suggest that when ever anyone posts a story about a political party they then have to note any like/similar occassions that the other parties might have rumbling around.
