...motivational messages to the team, protesting statements against ludicrous decisions in the sport, or simply rememberance messages for heroes of the club or the game.

Its not particularly cheap to buy a load of fabric though, we've spent around ?100 so far in getting the fabric for the flags that we've been taking to the U21s games.

We have bought polycotton fabric from a couple of online (nortex mill and HM fabrics i think) shops for ?2-3 a metre.

Another option is to get a yellow or green plastic table cloth that you can get around ?15 for a roll of around 30m.
