A few unusually positive thoughts from yesterday

I know people at a bit torn on whether that was a good point or not yesterday. It must be said that Brum were decidedly sh*t and were we surging towards automatic promotion then I suspect we would have managed to win that game. That we didn't tells us where we are in the grand scheme if things.

However what I wanted to see was a reaction from last week both from players and manager and I feel we got that. Last week we were incredibly awful and u feared that the hoofball might be indicative of Neil's approach. The defence was a calamity. Most players were below par and we looked completely disjointed. all if these things were addressed. We controlled the ball, kept possession and (other than a few iffy moments dealing with punts down the middle) we looked under no real threat of losing. Also, whilst I would have preferred Hooper or Jerone ahead of Grabban, I liked the fact that the manager was prepared to mix it up and send a message to the squad that nobody's place in the team is safe. I think that showed some balls and bodes well for the future. Playing Whitaker at right back was also good for his confidence although he was pretty sh*t again.

It wasn't perfect and we should have gone for the win and brought Hooper on a but earlier but had we not lost last weekend that probably would have been looked on as a decent point from one of our trickiest remaining away games. We now have what "should" be a home banker next week when we can get more fitness into Bassong and hopefully build on the better defensive display we put in yesterday.
