Gerrard was plainly, obviously, clearly about to side-foot the ball into the net. If he was fouled, then how much more clearly could a goalscoring opportunity be denied?

I mean a side-foot from 8 yards? How much more of a goal-scoring opportunity can you have?

That's as big a piece of bottling from a ref as you'll see.
