Got my sanctimony skit when replying innit, about not swearing and stuff. So if I'd typed that I'd have cocked up my own argument :)

If it happens again and creeps up on you out the blue, breathing out for the count of 6, and in for the count of 6 till you calm down. (depends how severe the episode is).
A clue that this method is working, is if you stop when you feel better, and the attack comes straight back when you return to normal breathing. If that happens you know to go back to 6 until it passes
