How different might things have been if we'd been able to regularly play

this back four and pair of holding CMs:

Martin Bennett Bassong Olsson

Tettey Johnson

That we have not been able to do this has obviously been down to a variety of reasons, some the clubs/managers fault, others bad luck but ultimately is it any wonder the defending has been ropey all season given the continued lack of continuity we have had. I would hazard a guess that of the top 8 we have had by far the least settled line up or any of them. McCarthy has been lauded for what he has done with the sc*m but it certainly helps when you have a far more settled defence.
