I actually thought Whittaker would do a half decent job in there

but seems he forgot he was playing a defensive midfield role and ended up storming forward at every opportunity, barely won a tackle and gave the ball away for their first goal.

But I can see the logic of him playing there in the absence of an experienced CM. He's played there for Rangers and Scotland in the past.
