I think we should have played three in central midfield

even if one of them was Wes or Bennett. This would have stopped Brentford passing it through us time and time again and also would have given Whittaker and Johnson (who aren't the best passers) a simple out ball the majority of the time.

No point playing three up front if the only way you try to find them is by hoofing it out from defence.
