I spent years there so know it very well and still go to visit friends.

You will find that the locals are extremely negative and not very friendly or polite even towards each-other. Worse than London in that respect. There is an awful lot of poverty, drugs and crime. I really wouldn't want to bring up a family there.

The traffic congestion is a nightmare, the bus station is small and a dive.

The nicer bits to live are around the Clifton area.

The Watershed night-life area becomes much like Prince of Wales Rd. Like Norwich, few major artists have gigs in Bristol.

Broadmead shopping centre is like an indoor shopping mall but without a roof.

The plus points are that you will find a greater diversity of restaurants and night clubs.

Norwich is a far better city.
