north of the city centre as you say, right next to the m4/m5 intersection?

theres new build developments around there (not sure what they are called) but stay away from Bradley Stoke (aka "sadly broke")

like CWC says, if you're yonug/single, aim for Clifton area - if older and a family head out of Brizzle and commute - though down the A370 going south, where nice towns and villages are may be too far..... could look a "Yate" or elsewhere in south gloucestershire north of Bristol and commute south
