Digital cameras etc - Ask The Wrath

Comrades.

I have a Canon PowerShot A1100 (12.1 megapixels) and I've never been happy with it. Battery life is the main problem. I suspect it was faulty from the get-go but the guarantee has long since expired. I've basically stopped using it, hardly ever bother taking pics any more as a result, apart from the occasional one using my iPod Touch (5 megapixels I think). I reckon unless I get a new camera sharpish I'll regret the pics not taken.

Any advice on a reliable digital camera in the ball park of the one I was using, price wise, but with a decent battery life and, y'know, takes half-decent pics? Not sure on budget, less than ?200 I reckon.
