This is why he was stupid to take that job, instead of waiting for a bigger club. A club like Villa will only really be pleased if you get them challenging for the top four, which was always going to be unlikely given the piffling level of investment from Lerner. As it is, they've stagnated, a couple of good results in his first season aside. And now he's got a problem, as if he does get the boot, it's not clear to me if another PL team will want to take a punt on him. I wouldn't be surprised if his next managerial stop is in das Mutterland.
