He didn't want to suggest they have been looking for a new manager for a while (which they obviously have)

He also mentioned later in the interview that the board monitors all the managers out there. Im sure he wasn't talking about the past few days.

He did stress that it was a unanimous board decision

(although Stephen Fry said he wanted someone a bit younger)
