This flies in the face of what other clubs have done in the same circumstances

Traditional football logic would be to appoint one of:

Warnock, McDermott, Adkins or if we'd been looking a little earlier, Clarke, Lennon, Clark, Mackay or another manager that has failed elsewhere.

Appointing Neil has a great deal more potential to leave McNally with egg on his face. There will be a lot of people saying "I told you so" if it doesn't work out. A lot more so than someone like Warnock who has a reputation for getting teams promoted.

So I stand by my view that this is a brave decision from McNally.
