They need to stop trotting out the line "this has nothing to do with Islam"

It clearly does. It might not be reflective of the sentiments of the vast, vast majority of Muslims but these fanatics do what they do in the name of Islam and the Muslim community needs to shame them. Perhaps a small mercy that may come out of these recent ISIS and "lone wolf" episodes in Paris and Aus is that moderate and mainstream Muslims will be much stronger in their condemnation and young Muslims will see these murdering nutters for what they really are.

Also whilst I am a strong advocate of "free speech" is there really any need for these magazines and newspapers to keep publishing provocative cartoons and taking the p**s when they know it offends and provokes these nutters into violence? The cartoons are not really funny they just seem to be done to provoke a reaction. One of the guys killed appears to have been the permanent police bodyguard of the magazine editor. Surely, if things have reached that stage you have to question whether such "satire" is so important you carry on provoking these people?
