Pain killers, etc...

...many moons ago I was playing at Free Safety for the Norwich Devils American Football Team (yeah bunch of poofs, etc, etc, blah, blah, done that bit now). I dislocated my thumb in the pre-game practice and had it put back in by our physio, strapped up, had a couple of Ibuprofen and half a can of freeze spray on it. I couldn't even feel it when digging my nail into it.

An hour into the game I went to make an interception (catch the ball) and remembered at the last second that it was 4th down (i.e. bad time to intercept ball!) and pulled my hand out of the way. The ball caught me right on the thumb.

Painkillers or not the pain was incredible. I felt nauseous and almost passed out!
