from a business perspective they may be correct

We were reasonably successful as a business last season if you just consider financials.

With football being the industry it is, I'm not sure how many clubs are able to be consistently run well from both a business 'and' a football perspective, without a fundamental re-evaluation of what on-pitch success equates to.

ie, I'm sure a club like ours could remain very well run financially as long as we're happy bimbling about in the middle of this division, but is that footballing success?

For fans football is still about entertainment and winning things/gaining promotion - but trying to achieve that all comes at a very high financial cost if it doesn't come off - and for most clubs it just doesn't, regardless of how good the squad or manager is.

I wouldn't be massively surprised if, at the end of this season, we're not a million miles away financially from where we were pre promotion.
