Seeing that people are guessing this is my guess...
McNasty may have been keeping a close eye on Lennon when Hoots was in charge but Hoots got a result to keep the job past the Jan transfer window. Lennon may then have been expecting NC to come in for him during the summer. His Celtic assistant manager Mjallby left Celtic in prep for a new job...
Malky then became available as his legal action was ending but the Malky conduct rumour started doing the rounds and NC very quickly needed an option without baggage.
Lennon was leaving Celtic so making himself available without a new club having to pay comp (and his assitant Mjallby had already left) but Neyul was offered the NC job.
Lennon & Mjallby are now doing good things considering a poor squad and no money at Bolton. There is a chance that Lennon might still want to talk to NC should the right opportunity arise because NC are a bigger club with more money and a better squad than Bolton. However, for something like that to happen it could mean NC paying comp to Bolton (when NC could possibly have had Lennon during the summer without paying comp) and possibly some people admitting they got it wrong etc.
Regardless I still hope that Neyul will be a massive success at NC.
