its not about "innovation" - otherwise it would be about new inventions only - its about finding a USP in market known to the candidate. The girl was probably a better candidate however her business plan was way way riskier for two reasons - one, too many options meant manufacturing too many variants which would eat up stock and therefore tie up money, and the second concenr was that she had no expereince in that particular market.
