Had a Def Leppard ticket but sold it to a tout on the evening of a gig and played hockey instead. The game was re-arranged but we had to win to have a chance of staying in the league so I made the decision of hockey over music.

This was the then Truman Indoor League played at Crystal Palace, the premier indoor hockey league in the country. We were in the top division. (Ben Truman beers for those with long memories)

We played and lost horribly against St Albans HC, we were down in the game early and a few of the more experienced players just gave up. I was fuming as I left the pitch; my best pal at the club, another U-21 squad member was in tears at the end of the game.

Wish I?d gone to the gig.
