The problem is this (IMO)

When the likes of Google, Amazon, etc (megacorps in general) say they will come into a country they negotiate tax breaks. It's not about having expensive lawyers - the HMRC is pretty much immune to rich tax lawyers, they would have you or I in a hearbeat....anyway

So, we give the megacorps a deal, you come give us jobs and we'll let you pay 2-5 % tax instead of the same as everyone else.

The government then crow about everyone having jobs, they get voted in. Happy days.

The short sightedness though is that if they didn't cave into the megacorps on tax breaks, employment wouldn't be such a worry - because our country wouldn't be reliant upon taxing you and I up the arse to cover for the megacorps lack of taxing.

Fuck, if we taxed them all properly, we could give all the nurses, emergency services, you and me a nice little payrise each year, and we could spend that money on Amazon Prime and even they wouldn't worry about having to pay more tax.

Simple! (Actually, v aware it isn't but these are the things we need to discuss and address for starters...)
