Washington is great for museums etc, and the monuments *are* worth a day

of anyone's time, imho.

My favourite of the three East Coast cities though is Boston - I just love that place right off. NYC is great to visit, DC you need something to do, but I could defo, 100% live in Boston. It's four hours on the Acela express and Logan airport is a nice one to fly back from if you didn't fancy the return train trip (the early morning plane is my favourite, I'm routinely on that with work - the overnight flights kill me the day after, being so decrepit and all).

Or you could take a day and visit Bawlmer (Baltimore), see The Wire kind of places (take a cab through the drug markets, it's fine, but DO NOT ON ANY ACCOUNT be seen taking photos of them). Or fly out to Chicago, Norlins or whatever really.
