The Phelan thing is the fly in the ointment

By any analysis Adams has to go BUT they just brought Phelan in to play the Joe Royle role (kind of - work with me here) so they'll probably give it a couple of weeks to see if he can help turn it around.

When the fans have gone, though, they usually stay gone. Adams should step back and he should go with our blessings and thanks for honestly trying his best. No blame attaches to him (nor did it to Gunny).

Phelan as new manager would be dumb. We need someone who knows what they're doing. We won't get a better chance than this season to go back up for some time.

The board's done a fantastic job with the finances which at the end of the day is the platform all else is built on. But you do have to question the decision-making around managerial appointments and wonder if they shouldn't consider getting help on that front. The other parts of the club are working well, but picking the manager is kind of critical.
