It doesn't take a genius to think the same people who appointed Bryan Gunn would be

in favour of a similar appointment, albeit one with a much better coaching CV.

I think the issue of Gunn's prompt sacking in 2009 is different because McNally obviously convinced them that if they carried on with him the club was in grave danger of going into administration or even worse. Thankfully we're not at that stage now however it may be why they're more reluctant to pull the trigger on their boy.
