So what's the point of a manager then? Any manager anywhere

All footballers are paid well therefore they shouldn't need motivating. That's the logic of some folk.

Said folk always trot this out when their club is failing - then mysteriously forget this when the same club gets a proper manager in and starts succeeding.

The players were disinterested today because the club is disinterested. The players have no leadership because the club has no leadership. One begats the other.
