Doh. Sorry. Continued..........

What the highest paid director takes home is made up of 3 components:

1. Salary appears to be around ?750K.

2. Bonus received for "meeting financial targets." Last year that was circa ?370K according to the accounts.

3. In the years we have stayed up it appears a bonus has also been paid for retaining premier league status. This appears to be in the region of ?400-?500K

I accept the argument put forward yesterday that part of this is down to football wages in general being obscene and it seems to have been a trend in the last 2-3 years that CEO/Director wages have increased significantly whereas previously they were much more in line with "other companies" where CEOs of companies with similar turnover are more likely to earn around ?250k per annum.

However, I do remain very uncomfortable that we have a situation whereby someone can earn ?1 million whilst presiding over a season that was in reality a complete failure. I would think it would be preferable for the staying in the prem bonus to be far more significant in the context of the overall package. Also as a more general point (that i suppose can happen in any job/sector) will an individual retain the same drive (and perhaps ruthlessness of decision making) when they have become a millionaire in their own right and know they will be paid ?1m regardless of whether we stay up?
