re your post below - just for me to understand here:

(1) Jo, in Swedish and Norwegian, means 'yes'
(2) The footballer's name is Jo Tessem
(3) Therefore his Christian name is 'yes'?

Was there some mix-up at the registry office:
Official:"Have you decided on a name yet?"
Parents: "Yes"
Official: "Are you sure?"
Parents: "Yes. Definitely."
Offical: "Yes?"
Parents: "Yes."
Official:"Yes it is then." [Gets out pen wearily....]
