Well having just checked the speaker is normally unoppposed

So I guess the question is academic in the general election anyway.

I just think its understandable that people have been pushed to UKIP given the attitude of the main parties over the last few years to two issues that do matter a lot to quite a lot of people. What UKIP say on those issues strikes a chord with a large number of voters even though deep down people know UKIP are not capable of governing the country.
