No, imo, in order for the team not to be weakened............ ......

by the sale of Ashton we Worthy would need about ?5-6 million from the sale of Ashton in his transfer kitty.

Now Doncaster said in the summer to Nigel that any money he gets from player sales would go straight back into his transfer kitty.

This should still be the case.

In fact i would say the board owe Nigel, and that is why all the money from the Ashton sale should go into his kitty. People moan about Worthy signing the likes of Hughes and Jarrett but he would not have bought them if the board had not been so tight in the summer. I bet he was as pissed off and dissapointed as we were when he found out they were the only sort of players he could bring in due to the tightness of the board.

Ashton going is going to weaken us in a major way. See how we performed when he went off in the 2nd half to get an idea of how we will be without him.

He is irreplaceable imo. However, we could get another striker that could score half/two thirds of the goals that he would get us, but that striker would not be cheap.

It is unlikely that a new striker would get as many goals as Dean so we would have to make up for the abscence of those extra goals that Dean would have got us by not conceding as many. That means strengthening the defence and midfield so that they tighten up. In this way the team has not been weakend by Ashtons sale.

If Nigel is only going to get ?3-4 million of the Ashton cash then selling him is crazy and MUST NOT BE DONE.
