No, not really.

What you're talking about is registering your own domain name (the crustygenitalia.co.uk bit). I've never know that to be free. It costs an amount per year, but you can sometimes get discounted deals for multiple years.

The cost varies depending on the Top Level Domain you want - that's the .co.uk bit. .com is usually quite pricy, .co.uk slightly less so. I think .me is usually very cheap.

.org is quite cheap (I have myactualname.org) but you can't do anything commercial under the .org top level - if that was ever a consideration. You wouldn't be allowed to set up an online shop on crispywotsits.org.
