Their performance on and off field was hugely impressive. Everyone pulling in the same direction with amazing results.

Premier League achieved. Debts wiped out. What next? Had the same focus and ruthless planning gone into the next stage? The answer, I'm afraid, is categorically no. It's almost as though achieving what they set out to do when in League One was their ultimate goal. Job done. Planning to hang on to a Premier League place was always going to be more luck than judgement.

No wonder everything they built is quite rapidly falling into a heap of rubble. Four years of strong, decisive and determined leadership from the top, has dissolved in to anything but.
