It was stated at the time by bowkett/mcnally, 1 of or possible both, that it made it difficult getting rid of Hughton because so many roles would need filling on them getting rid of him. It was also said that this may have been partly to blame for the poor performance of the team because the managers remit was very broad at that time.
It was further said that some of the previous managers responsibilities would be removed and given to other people to spread the load so that the manager could concentrate on first team football. And also that a football advisory/executive board would be put in place.
I wrongly, assumed that most people would remember at least some of that, but apparently f**king not!
