the signings weren't disastrous last summer

van Wolfswinkel was a poor buy, but 8m for a striker, or however much it was, only gets you a gamble at Premier League level.

Olsson and Redmond were good signings. We made a massive profit on Fer and Hooper was a reasonable return on a 5m signing at that level with 7(?) goals. Elmander as well was a reasonable loan signing and would only have been back-up if Wolfswinkel and Hooper hadn't been injured so often.
