Hughton's tactics got some good results but he slowly but surely drained

all the belief out the squad that they could play decent football and he also stopped playing players who could keep the ball. In the end this led to us giving the ball up for long long periods of every match whilst offering very little threat on the counter. Goals from set-pieces are always vital to clubs like us when playing the style Hughton wanted us to play but in his second season we became completely useless at them and we couldn't grab the odd point here and there.
