had very good results. So did he get lucky early on? Has he been found out now?

Or has he been let down by individual errors in recent games? Have we been unlucky, not getting the run of the play recently?

I think it's too early to draw any firm conclusions. We're only a third of the way through the season and we've won several more games than we've lost, so it's not as though he is completely hopeless.
