My Mrs' family are from there so I've spent a bit of time there

It depends on what you want to do, for me Gozo is better for everything, you can day trip to Malta easily and it's a nicer place to relax. There are a number of good bathing and diving beaches and the trips to Comino tend to be cheaper.

You will need to drive if you want to do much though the buses are not air conditioned.
