Why can't we keep Martin at centre back?

We've conceded six goals in the nine games where he has played there (including every clean sheet this season).

When he hasn't played at centre back we've conceded six in four games.

It seems like this is a bandwagon that has gained support with absolutely no basis, apart from that 'he's too short' or 'he can't jump'. Both of which are not borne out by the superior performance of the defence when he plays there.
