Sheffield Wednesday Saturday

I must say I like our trips to Hillsbrough. A proper footballing day out in a big but old stadium and with friendly locals. We'd normally drive over the Peak from Manchester, but this time we let the train take the strain. All was good, and there were even other City fans on my train from Macclesfield.

On arrival at Sheffield, we decided on the Sheffield 'super tram' to Hillsbrough. However this system is no Metrolink, (certainly not 'super') and we crawled the last mile when it would have been faster to walk. But we got there in good time.

Good views from the upper tier of the Leppings Lane end. And it was good that the prison style mesh has now been removed from the catering counters. As ever a great turn-out from the Y'Army.

The football in the first half was largely hesitant. Plenty of the ball, but not much done with it. No play-making in the mid-field. Second half much better, more direct with Wednesday's keeper making several good saves. Chances that really should have been buried. There was only one team that was going to win this game. And we didn't. But for me, no time to panic.

Travel home by the less than super, tram. The journey across Sheffield was longer than that across the Pennines.

On reflection. We'll be all right with this squad. We have the quality but need to find the right midfield and striking combination. I think we will, hopefully soon, and give some team (Bolton would be good) a good thrashing. I'm an optimist y'a see.

Onwards. Together Y'Army!
